William King has been touring and recording with Commodores since 1968, playing trumpet, guitar, synthesizer, flute and congas—all while handling choreography duties for a band that went from funk powerhouse to pop hit machine in the latter half of the ’70s. Band members, including Lionel Richie, have come and gone over the years, but King has stuck with the groove and kept the bus on the road, bringing the people what they need for dancing, singing along and falling in love. It’s not required for audience members to dress up in their best ’70s club wear, but it would be cool!
