The San Francisco-based Hyperdrive Kittens seek to delight. Though the musical foundation sounds decidedly like ’70s rock or early ’80s punk, the vocal overlays are bright, fun and beguiling. Combining influences like the Rocky Horror Picture Show and burlesque, the Hyperdrive Kittens create music that is punchy, cheeky and full of innuendo. The Screaming Bloody Marys and Talky Tina support the Kittens at their Caravan gig. Both bands ostensibly play punk rock, but each brings a unique and campy flavor to the mix. (TM)
