Steve Martin, who wrote the original plays Picasso at the Lapin Agile and Meteor Shower, adapted and staged The Underpants off-Broadway in 2002. Based on the 1910 German play Die Hose by Carl Sternheim, the story centers on Louise Maske, who suffers a wardrobe malfunction when her bloomers fall off in public. Her conservative husband, Theo, fears losing his job due to the public scandal, which attracts two male lodgers who want to rent a room in the couple’s home. Directed by Kimberly Mohne Hill, the cast includes Lyndsy Kail, Will Springhorn Jr, Judith Miller, Keith Pinto, Garland Thompson and Nick Mandracchia.
