The Verve Pipe burst onto the burgeoning ’90s rock scene with two phenomenal albums, I’ve Suffered a Head Injury and Pop Smear. The releases featured catchy songs with reflective lyrics bolstered by uniquely textured arrangements rare in the grunge-dominated rock world, garnering them major label attention. In 1996, RCA Records released Villains, which featured “Photograph” and “The Freshman,” which hit number one on the charts and became one of the most successful multiformat tracks of 1997. After an eight-year hiatus, the Verve Pipe returned to the fold, expanding their offers to include children’s music albums while selling out shows across the country.
