The awe-inspiring Viano Quartet has had an exciting few years. In 2019, they won the prestigious Banff International String Quartet Competition, and in 2022, they secured the John Ladd Prize. These accolades bolstered their reputation to the point that they now perform in almost every major city worldwide. Their diverse program includes a new piece by composer Gavin Bryars, for which renowned harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani will join them. Another highlight is “5 Folksongs in Counterpoint” by Florence Price, the first Black American woman to gain recognition as a composer of symphonic music back in the ’30s. (AM)
