.Whitney Bring the Party to Guild Theatre

For those who haven’t checked in on Whitney since their falsetto folk-soul breakthrough hit “No Woman” back in 2016, it’s time for a revisit. The Chicago duo consisting of best friends Julien Ehrlich and Max Kakacek just released their fourth record, Spark. While the band’s distinctive slow-mo aesthetic persists, they have taken their once-wispy sound into shinier and punchier pop territory this time. The vast majority of Spark was conceived in a studio within a Portland bungalow the pair shared during the pandemic, with a disco ball circling above and Top 40 music videos streaming slowed-down on mute.
