When celebrating the holiday season, atmosphere goes a long way. Fortuitously, Mission Santa Clara offers just that for Christmas. Titled Winters Gift: Wish, this 20th-anniversary celebration sees The Choral Project and San José Chamber Orchestra join forces under the warm glow of candlelight. The show features a selection of holiday music from different faiths and traditions, highlighting the diverse communities in the Bay Area while symbolizing the deep, universal longing for peace and love. Moreover, the show includes two world premieres by Artistic Director Daniel Hughes and music by Gustav Holst, Z. Randall Stroope and Robert Seely. Paul Halley’s “Ubi Caritas” rounds out the show, combining a plainchant melody with a classic Nigerian song.
