Nov. 29. A 40-year-old man on Harriet Avenue punched an 18-year-old man because he was playing football "loudly" in the street.
Dec. 1, 7:06 p.m. A 34-year-old man was drunk and causing a disturbance at the annual Carol of Lights ceremony near Campbell and Railway avenues.
Dec. 1, 7:28 p.m. A 31-year-old man was arrested after getting drunk, punching a hole in a door, grabbing a victim and hitting her on the head. During the altercation, the suspect received "minor scratches on his arm."

"Living in a shelter environment is not easy, so the warmth and comfort of a blanket to snuggle up with on cold nights means a great deal to these homeless animals," says the nonprofit group's spokesperson, Leslie Baikie. Campbell--From the police log:
Santa Clara--The great animal maker in the sky may have supplied dogs and cats with fur, but apparently not enough. The Humane Society of Santa Clara Valley is holding its annual blanket and towel drive during the month of December for animals living at its shelter.
Palo Alto--Peninsula nature-lovers may soon be going the extra mile if Stanford University officials convince county planners to prohibit parking alongside the university's popular Dish promenade. The bucolic Foothill trail gets its name from the satellite dish visible from Highway 280. Claiming the current parking arrangement is a safety hazard, the university says hikers can park in a public lot one mile away.
