Beck/Dashboard Confessional
Sunday, June 22; 3pm; $39.50
Greek Theatre, UC Berkeley; 408.998.TIXS

Complimentary Prozac should be passed out before, during and after this show, which pairs the day's foremost sad-sack troubadours. Beck is touring on behalf of his most intimate album to date, Sea Change. He temporarily leaves behind the funk soul brother of yore to seek closure to a failed relationship. Could songs like "Lost Cause," "Lonesome Tears" and "Already Dead" be any indication of Beck's current state of mind? Meanwhile, Dashboard Confessional has inspired Morrissey-like devotion among its fans, who have taken to Chris Carrabba's similar tales of woe and frustration. This should be a deeply moving evening of purging, made even more dramatic by the Greek Theatre's tall, shadowy architecture. Any ticket holder going through a rough patch may be overwhelmed by a sense of anguish, so confiscate their car keys just in case.
