Ozzfest 2003 Tuesday; July 8; 9am; $89.50 reserved/$49.50 general Shoreline Amphitheatre, 1 Amphitheatre Parkway; Mountain View; 408.998.TIXS Last year's OzzFest was fraught with unhappy circumstances, from the death of Drowning Pool frontman Dave Williams to OzzFest first lady Sharon Osbourne's fight against cancer. Sick with worry, headlining OzzFest took an emotional toll on the tour's patriarch, Ozzy Osbourne, who told the crowd, "My head right now is like a fucking haunted house." A lukewarm lineup didn't help matters any, and OzzFest 2002 was hardly one for the annals--especially in contrast to the epic lineup of Black Sabbath, Marilyn Manson, Linkin Park, Papa Roach, Slipknot and Mudvayne the year before. OzzFest 2003 should make up for all that and more with a main-stage lineup that just can't miss. Ozzy headlines, Korn plays main support and Marilyn Manson returns with elements of his Grotesk Burlesk "scabaret" and "vodevil" theater spectacle and songs from his new release, The Golden Age of Grotesque. Meanwhile, Disturbed and Chevelle, who just tore up the SJSU Event Center on the second Music as a Weapon tour, kick off the big stage. Early in the day, gravel will be spitting as the pit churns in the sun-baked parking lot for second-stage acts Cradle of Faith, Voivod (featuring former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted), Depswa, Endo, Grade 8, Hotwire, Killswitch Engage, Memento, Motograter, Nothingface, the Revolution Smile, Shadows Fall, Sworn Enemy, Twisted Method and Unioco.
