Span Mail Bridge School Benefit By Gina Arnold Put it this way: there's never been a bad Bridge School Benefit at Shoreline. Not one. The 15-year tradition, produced by Neil Young's wife, Pegi, in aid of a school for severely disabled children, pairs superstar power with a good cause for a good old-fashioned rock buzz, social politics and music. As a bonus, the acts--surrounded by kids in wheelchairs--usually play acoustic/alternative versions of their hits, peppered with weird covers or duets. Highlights in the past 10 years include Pearl Jam doing Victoria Williams' "Crazy Mary" and David Bowie playing acoustic. This year's lineup will include one of R.E.M.'s only live dates in 2001, as well as performances by Young and Pearl Jam. Absolutely, positively guaranteed to be worth the price of admission.
